There are lots of Portland deals, discounts, and coupons for you to take advantage of when you are in Portland, Oregon. You can save money when having fun by just being in the know about what is available and when.
Several popular Portland attractions offer free or reduced admission fees on certain days of the week. You can purchase restaurant gift certificates for half price. You can even get your flight to Portland, a rental car, and your hotel room at a reduced rate if you know how to do it. The number one rule for finding Portland deals on flights and hotel rooms is to shop around and be sure you are comparing apples to apples. Does one flight include luggage and one doesn't? Does the quote you receive include all fees and taxes?
You can get really good Portland deals with Priceline where you place a bid for what you are willing to pay for a hotel room, flight, or rental car. It helps if your dates are somewhat flexible. Priceline has been around since the beginning of the internet. I have friends who haven't bought an airline ticket any other way in years.
How does Priceline work? There are two ways to find the best deal at Priceline. The first is to fill out the form for a flight, hotel room, or car rental giving your information of what you are looking for and Priceline will search its data base and give you the options available with prices including fees and taxes. The second way to get a good deal is to use Pricelines bidding feature. You tell them how much you are willing to pay. Then Priceline will send you an e-mail if an airline fare or room rate becomes available for that amount. You can keep track of your bids on the website. You can even bid on vacation packages. You can save big bucks on hotel rooms by staying in a hostel. Portland has a couple of good ones. If you don't want to sleep in a dorm room, private rooms are available but you will pay more for them. They still come out much cheaper than a regular hotel.
Most people think hostels are just for young people who are traveling alone but hostels often have rooms for small families. Take a look at Portland's best hostels.
The latest rage for special Portland deals is Groupon. All you have to do is sign up for the area that you are interested in and you will receive an e-mail every day for a discount deal of the day.
