Great Oregon Spring Beach Cleanup
This annual event takes place Saturday, March 29, 2008. It doesn't matter where you live in Oregon. You can drive to your favorite beach and volunteer a few hours of your time to help clean up the trash on Oregon's beaches. You can meet up with other volunteers in every city on the coast. Oregon Coast Events Spring 2008 in Lincoln City
Indoor Windless Kite Festival
March 28, 29, and 30. Learn how to fly kites without wind. Experts will be there to show you how.
Pacific Coast Center for Culinary Arts
Learn how to make Summer Salads. A two-hour class on April 5th with Chef Losing from the Willamette Valley Country Club. To register call 541-996-2119.
Digging Bay Clams
Want to learn how to dig bay clams. You can do so at Siltz Bay on April 5th, 20th and May 24th. Lee Gray the Wild Gourmet will be there. You can signup at 7:00 am at the Siletz Bay Park Gazebo. For more information call 541-992-3798.
Great Oregon Coast Garage Sale
Head over to Lincoln City on April 18, 19, and 20th for this annual event. Over 100 sales throughout the town. For information call 800-452-2151.
Oregon Coast Steam Adventure at Garibaldi
If you have always wanted to take a trip on a steam train this is your chance. The trip is scheduled on May 17, 2008. The train leaves Lumberman's Park in Garibaldi at 10 am and travels up the coast turning inland at Wheeler. It stops for lunch at Nahalem Bay Winery and returns to Garibaldi at 7:30 pm.
Light snacks are available on board. You will want to take your camera and be prepared to take lots and lots of shots. The trip is $148 per person (age five and up). There is only room for 100 folks so make your reservations early. Call 503-292-5055. (There is another trip scheduled for October 4th which would be great for fall color.)
Seaside Downtown Wine Walk
A wine tasting in downtown Seaside on May 17th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Wander around town, drop in at various businesses and taste wine from many of Oregon's excellent wineries.
Astoria-Warrenton Crab and Seafood Festival.
On April 25, 26, and 27 enjoy a crab and seafood fest. Eat a traditional Dungenesse crab dinner. There will be hundreds of displays by regional artisans, music, wine tasting, and a beer garden. Admission is $10 for adults on Friday and Saturday and $5 on Sunday. Children under 12 get in free. For more information call (800) 875-6807.
