Crab, chocolate, and wine are the leading Oregon Coast events contenders for your attention this month but there is also a Jambalaya Cook-Off for something different. Tickets for some events need to be purchased well ahead of time to avoid disappointment and one event requires on-line purchase. If you are an avid follower of the Axemen on TV, you will be interested in attending the Timber Fesitival in Astoria.
A full day of activities beginning with a lumberjack breakfast at 9 am. Logging competitions, equipment displays, food stalls, craft vendors, and old photos of logging in the old days. February 28 to March 2nd
Three full days of yoga workshops with world class yoga teachers at one of the most popular beach towns on the Oregon Coast. See the festival's website for schedules and registration.
What a combination! Enjoy the art exhibit and your favorite edible pleasures. Place: Kiwanda Community Center. Time: 12 pm to 10 pm with the wine and chocolate tasting from 6 pm to 10 pm. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at the Inn at Pacific City or by calling 503-392-4581.
The Culinary Center in Lincoln City, 801 SW Hwy 101, Lincoln City. You be the judge of the best Jambalaya. Doors open and tasting begins at 11 am. Tastes are $.50 each with whole servings at $3 and $5. Winners are announced at 1:45 pm. For more information call 1-800-452-2151.
February 8th to February 17th
This annual event features sales in the local antique shops plus bus tours of the Lincoln City area, professional appraisers available to view your antiques, and other activities. See the schedule here.
February 15th and 16th
The Lincoln City Finders Keepers Glass Fishing Float promotion will be hiding 100 glass floats on the beaches this weekend. Get there early and see if you can find one. If you don't know what this is, see our Glass Fishing Float page to learn all about it.
The big sale of recycled and used jewelry. Come see what you can find. Perhaps a real bargain. Place Shilo Inn, Newport. Time: 9 am to 2 pm.
Fossil and gem displays. Bring your own finds for identification by the experts. Place: Hatfield Marine Science Center.
February 20th to February 23rd
This is the oldest, the biggest, and the best seafood and wine festival on the coast. Enjoy excellent food and wine plus art and craft exhibits. This event has become so popular, you really need to plan ahead and you will need to buy your ticket on line. You must be 21 to attend. Enjoy a Dungeness Crab dinner at the Florence Events Center. Time: 4 pm to 7 pm. Tickets must be purchased in advance and before January 24th. Purchase tickets at Florence Food Share, 2190 Spruce St., 541-997-9110. Tickets are $30.

Find your own treasure. Glass floats are hidden on the beach over this three month period. If you find one you can keep it. Look on the beach above the high water line between Kissing Rock Wayside and just north of the Rogue River Jetty. Finders are entered into a monthly drawing for a $300 vacation package. During the week of Valentine's Day all the floats will be red.
