You will travel in a vintage Pullman Coach on a 100-year-old track that goes from Hood River through the communities of Odell and Dee and ending at Park Dale where there is a layover before the trip back. There is a light snack and beverage car and you can either take a picnic to eat in a park in Park Dale or you can eat at one of Park Dale's restaurants.

Different seasons have different themes.

Hood River is 60 miles east of Portland on I-84 that travels through the Columbia River Gorge. (See the map below.) You can also easily get to Hood River from Government Camp on Mt Hood and from Bend in Central Oregon.

It is a good idea to make reservations before you go. To see the excursion schedule go to the Mt. Hood Railroad website.

You may want to stay the night in Hood River. Here are two excellent choices:

For a very relaxing and romantic place to stay over looking the Columbia Riverand Gorge, try the Columbia Gorge Hotel.

Another elegant and romantic hotel that over looks the Gorge is the Columbia Cliff Villas.
